VIDEO: Warm Room Episode One- Benoît Pioulard

Warm Room is a video series that Micah Vanderhoof and I have been working on for awhile. The basic idea is to invite performer friends of ours into our living room to do intimate, electricity-free performances (batteries are okay), which we then edit into a short video. Not much conceptual weight, I admit, but it should yield some great videos nonetheless!

First up to bat is my dear friend Thomas Meluch, whose solo project Benoît Pioulard has been active for about a decade now. Aside from being an FM DUST alumnus (a split cassingle with Campfires (DUST004) and the solo joint Valley (DUST022)), Benoît Pioulard has released four lovely LPs on the venerable Kranky label, with singles and EPs scattered about elsewhere .

Thomas is also half of the band Orcas and, purportedly, half of a band called Beach Druid, though proof of the latter is scarce (the other half of Beach Druid is, incidentally, me). He currently lives in Seattle.

There will be plenty more of these to come, roughly one a month. Stay tuned!
