Santiparro: “The Benefit of Confrontation” (featuring Will Oldham!)

In 2010, FM DUST released a cassette in a tiny edition of 48 copies called Get Well Soon, by a truly psychedelic and shamanistic singer called Santiparro. Shortly thereafter, he moved from Detroit to New York, after which we didn’t stay in contact much outside from the usual social media nonsense. I recently got to see Santiparro play again here in Portland, and it was beautiful. His new album, True Prayer, is a more elaborate affair, but it still feels both intimate and mind-expanding.

Today, Santiparro released a video for the song “The Benefit of Confrontation”, directed by Ben Dickinson. Both the video and the song feature a guest appearance by Will Oldham, thus making FM DUST only three degrees of separation from Kanye West, Zach Galifianakis, Slint, Michelle Williams, AND Baby Jessica! As if that weren’t exciting enough, the video and song are also beautiful, a perfect introduction to the Santiparro world. If you’re feelin’ it, you’d do well to order a copy of True Prayer here.
